Catalogue Note

In 1979, Boris Anisfeld's daughter Marochka Chatfield-Taylor recalled in a conversation with Nicholas Fox Weber, ``Every set my father made got rave notices, even though sometimes the music was panned like mad. `The Blue Bird,' for instance, an opera with music by Albert Wolff, got terribly panned, but everybody stood up and cheered because the sets and costumes were out of this world'' (Marochka Chatfield-Taylor, as quoted in Paintings by Boris Anisfeld, 1979).
