His Serene Highness Prince Robert was one of five 'singular people' appearing in 'The Full Circle,' a story Diane Arbus wrote and photographed for Harper's Bazaar in November 1961. Born in Oklahoma in 1886, he claimed to be the 'rightful Hereditary claimant to the Throne of the Byzantine Eastern Roman Empire,' living in a 'bejeweled, encrusted, embellished and bedizened 6 by 9 ft. room on 48th St., called The Jade Tower' (Magazine Work, p. 17).
