The view is taken from the south-east, looking north-west up the Grand Canal, and the buildings may be identified as follows: Palazzo Pesaro, the Palazzo Foscarini-Giovanelli, the pinnacle of the church of San Stea on the left, with the Palazzo Vendramin-Calergi (formerly Loredan) and the church of San Marcuola on the right.
