Catalogue Note
The present work reproduces exactly a composition by Jan van Huysum, which was sold at Sotheby's New York, January 17, 1992, lot 96 to French & Co. It was probably executed in London in 1827 when the artist visited the city; the van Huysum original was at that time recorded in the collection of Henry Hope of Cavendish Square.
