Catalogue Note

This painter from Lille can be considered as one of the most important followers of Claude Joseph Vernet (1714-1789), who continued his style well into the early 19th Century. He regularly exhibited at the Paris Salon of 1795-1810, and enjoyed great success painting marines in the manner of Vernet.
