Etching, a fine impression of this very rare print, on paper with a Proprietary watermark, with narrow margins on three sides, trimmed on or just within platemark at left, slight paper discoloration and mount staining, a short tear at left edge, some minor creases, otherwise in generally good condition

Catalogue Note

With the initial D  and an unidentified paraph in pen and brown ink in lower left margin corner. Following and inscription on the backboard this is believed to be Desprez's signature.
Although not included in Wollin's catalogue, the present print is considered a work of Desprez's youth by recent scholars, cf. Ulf Cederlöf, et al., Louis Jean Desprez, Tecknare, Teaterkonstnär, Arkitekt, exhibition catalogue, Nationalmuseum, Stockholm, (1992): p.12 and Régis Michel, La Chimère de Monsieur Desprez, exhibition catalogue, Louvre, Paris, (1994): p.17.
