Catalogue Note

Though totally comparable in terms of pigments used and overall construction with the other drawings in the group, and executed on the same fine paper, this study lacks the finest levels of detail seen in the preceding lots; it would therefore seem to be an unfinished work.   See also introduction on pp. 38-39.
