Drawings by Novelli in red chalk are relatively rare, but stylistically comparable examples include A Youth Playing the Pipes to a Girl (Jean-Luc Baroni at Douwes Fine Art, Old Master Drawings, 1980, no. 18), and Susanna and the Elders, now in a London private collection (P. and D. Colnaghi, Old Master and 19th Century Drawings, 1999-2000, no. 28).
