Catalogue Note

Religious subjects are relatively rare among Bison's drawings.  The present sheet may be related to two others showing the Crucifixion, but with Christ flanked by the two thieves (see Disegni Italiani del Sei-Settecento, exhib. cat., Fiesole, Palazzo Mangani, 1991, pp. 30-31, cat. no. 12, and sale, Milan, Finarte, 19 March 1991, lot 185).
