As the 19th century merged with the 20th century, Ferdinand Hart Nibbrig became one of the first Dutch artists after Jan Toorop to be inspired by Neo-Impressionism. After moving to the village of Laren in 1894, he developed a delicate pointillistic technique in bright colours. The style is particulary successful in his sunbathed landscapes, painted in the South of Limburg and in the Gooi-region near his home. Korenvelden in Zuid-Limburg is a very good example of such a sunbathed landscape.

Hart Nibbrig painted in Korenvelden in Zuid-limburg not only the landscape very detailed, but he also built very secure the composition of this painting. The horizontal line is very dominant in this landscape and the sheafs of corn are schematic divided  returning features. For this reason there is a strong effect of dept and illusion of boundless space. This illusion is emphasised by the fact that there are no boundaries at the edges of the painting; Hart Nibbrig wants to create an open field. To avoid human figures in his works he creates desolation and emptiness which makes the radiance of the painting even stronger.
