Catalogue Note
In the still lifes and figure-studies dated around 1916-1918 Floris Jespers painted in the manner of Rik Wouters. With these paintings he also had a significant contribution to the style of the Brabants Fauvism.
Although the composition of the paintings reminded the way Rik Wouters painted, Floris Jespers is still more attached to the motive and his style is a little more naturalistic. The colours he used in this period are very vibrant and warm, which made the works clear exponents of the Brabants Fauvism.
