Catalogue Note

Nicos Ghika was a Greek painter, printmaker, illustrator, stage designer and theorist who exhibited his work from the age of 17. The Menuhins stayed with Nicos and his wife, Barbara, in their house in Corfu. In 1975, during one of their visits, Yehudi Menuhin observed this portrait of Diana "grow from the canvas" (see archive photograph of Diana in the studio below)
