an illustrated kyôka anthology (folding album), 1 vol., complete, with original dark blue covers painted in gold with horizontal cloud bands, grasses and young pine and original title-slip, consisting of 12 sheets, 1 sheet preface by Shikatsube no Magao, 5 double-pages of coloured illustrations of various New Year scenes rendered in traditional painting styles comprising:
1) New Year at Court, depicted in Tosa style
2) New Year's party in a samurai mansion in Kanô style
3) Street entertainers performing the Shishi dance in Ukiyo-e style
4) Itinerant vendors of New Year gifts in the snow in Ukiyo-e style
5) Performance by a trained monkey at a rich merchant's house in ukiyo-e style
followed by 5 sheets of kyôka poetry, 1 sheet postscript signed by Yadoya no Meshimori, undated, colophon on last page indicating the artist Gako Kitagawa Utamaro with seal Mokuen no in and publisher Tsutaya Jûzaburô of the Eastern Capital



As in all known copies except one, this copy is also lacking the date Tori no hatsu haru (Beginning of Spring in the year of the cock, 1789)
