Catalogue Note
John Kingerlee has been based on the beautiful and remote Beara Peninsula in West Cork since 1982. He moved there following periods spent living and working in London and Cornwall. Dubbed by some an ‘outsider’ artist, he has found in Beara the peace and tranquillity he needed to enable him to produce his best work, inspired both by the landscape and by a deep reservoir of experiences and feelings.
