The torso of the Buddha seated in sattvaparyankasana on a base, his hands in dhyanamudra, wearing a sheer sanghati drawn over his left shoulder and falling in fine pleats over his left wrist.

Catalogue Note
The smooth contours and rounded, softly fleshed form of this sculpture suggest an early Khmer style. While the arrangement of the folds at the wrist indicates a trend towards stylization that is more characteristic of the Angkor Period, the supple modeling of the torso beneath the fine garment makes this a worthy example of early Khmer art.
