18k, rectangular nickel lever movement driven by dual mainspring barrels, stamped with the seal of Geneva, 29 jewels, gyromax balance, adjusted to heat, cold, isochronism and 5 positions, free sprung regulator, silvered matte dial, applied arabic and triangular numerals, subsidiary seconds, subsidiary dial below 12 o'clock for 10-day power reserve indication, large rectangular case with shaped sides and lugs, sapphire crystal display back, case, dial and movement signed, the case further stamped Year 2000 Patek Philippe, with a gold Patek Philippe buckle, accompanied by Patek Philippe cardboard slipcase, leather-covered display box, attestation, certificate and solid silver medal marking the third millennium, also accompanied by a Bulletin de Marche.

Patek Philippe created the 10-day wristwatch to commemorate the beginning of the third millennium.  Produced in a special limited series of 3,000 pieces, there exist 1,500 in yellow gold, 750 in pink gold and 300 in platinum.

Although the 10-day wristwatch was a new development for Patek Philippe, the spectacular case is based on an example, the reference 2554, first manufactured in 1952.  Furthermore, the fluid design of the case is meant to evoke the exquisite lines of a manta ray, whose image appears in the promotional material for the 10-day model.
