Catalogue Note

We are grateful to Dr. Marcel Roethlisberger who, based on photographs, suggested a possible attribution to Hendrick Bloemaert and an execution date of circa 1620 when Hendrick's style was particularly close to his father, Abraham Bloemaert.  Others have suggested that the painting is likely to be a late work by Abraham Bloemaert .
