Original Pallbearers List For Babe Ruth's Funeral

From the Universal Funeral Chapel in New York City, this list of pallbearers was used at St. Patricks Cathedral on August 19, 1948. This original list shows several names added or deleted in blue fountain pen. The list includes: Mayor of Boston James Curley, Ed Barrow, William Bendix (actor who portrayed Ruth), Benny Bengough, Tom Connolly (umpire), Frank Crosetti, Jack Dempsey, Joe DiMaggio, Joe Dugan, Will Harridge, Waite Hoyt, Bill Klem (umpire), Connie Mack, Johnny Mize, Dan Topping (Yankee owner), several sportswriters, etc. Forty-four names appear in all. Unlined sheet, no folds, near mint to mint condition.
