1927 Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig Signed Photograph

Gridiron legend Knute Rockne played host to Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig, pictured here as they take in a football game with business associate Joseph Bihler. A gaggle of kids appear crowded behind the pair mugging for the camera. The photograph is signed in blue ink by Babe Ruth (9/10), Lou Gehrig (9/10), and Bihler. The following notations appearing along the top of the photo are written in both blue and black ink, “Sitting on the Notre Dame bench by permission of Knute Rockne…Notre Dame – U.S.C. Football Game – Soldiers Field – Chicago, Nov. 26, 1927." Matted and framed. Ex-Barry Halper Collection. The photo has some minor surface creasing but still appears in excellent condition.
