Accompanying this lot are the green dress worn by Susan Murdock in the portrait, a daguerreotype, circa 1860, of James Murdock, Father of Susan M. Raymond, the girl in the American Primitive (written on a 19th century carte de visite of Mrs. Samuel Crocker Bernett, Putney, Vermont) and genealogies for the Murdock and Raymond families.
Susan Antoinette Murdock was born May 3, 1845, in Natick, Massachusetts, into a prominent New England family, and married Henry Emmons Raymond in Natick on December 10, 1863. She was a Daughter of the American Revolution (DAR ID #64635); her aunt was Harriet Beecher Stowe, author of Uncle Tom's Cabin.
