Both signed Qifeng, carp painting dated yi mao, 1915, early summer, entitled, and each with one seal of the artist. Annotation by Xu Beihong (1895-1953), dated xin si, 1941, dedicated to Chen Zhichu (1911-1983), and with one seal of his. Titleslip by Chen Zhichu

Catalogue Note

This piece was once in the collection of Chen Zhichu. Chen, native of Guangdong, was born in Singapore. He was well-known in South East Asia for his business in coffee, resin and pepper. Chen amassed Chinese paintings, calligrahy and ceramics in his spare time and supported activities in arts and charity.
