Contemporary full calf, spine gilt in 7 compartments, endpapers plain, edges sprinkled red; boards rather worn, joints starting at spine ends, minor losses to spine ends, lacking front free endpaper, lower free endpaper frayed.

Catalogue Note
First edition. The herbal is based on Verzascha's edition of Mattioli's Kreüterbuch, but is so reworked and augmented as to constitute practically a new work. The accompanying second edition of 1744 was substantially augmented and revised by the author's son, Friedrich.
