Catalogue Note

This hitherto unrecorded model by Fanelli is very thinly cast, recalling Sandrart's observation that the sculptor was famed for casting 'in just a Reichstaler's thickness'. The detail is customarily finished in the wax model, with hardly any cold-chasing. The base is cast from a separate model.
