Catalogue Note

Léonard submitted the plaster model of La Source at the Salon Nationale des Beaux-Arts in 1906 (no.1849) to be executed in marble.  Only one marble is known to have been made, probably to be identified with the present lot, which had belonged to the artists family for many years.
