Catalogue Note

The figure of the dancing Neapolitan woman appears infrequently in comparison to Duret's well known pendants of the Dancing Neapolitan Fisherboys with either the tambourine or the castanets. Pierre-Maximilien Delafontaine's foundry operated in the second quarter of the 19th century and up to 1860 and the present cast is probably datable to circa 1840.
