Catalogue Note

A reduction of one of the life-sized corner figures of the monument to General de Lamoricière in Nantes Cathedral, Military Courage looks back to the Medici tomb figures of Michelangelo. It was much admired when it was shown at the Salon of 1876 and the Barbedienne foundry owned the rights to edit reductions in bronze.
