A fine and rare double singing bird box, John Manger & Co, Geneva, circa 1870

with slide lever to the front which, when operated, opens the oval lid to reveal two birds, the left bird moving his beak and flapping his wings follwed by the right bird and finally both singing together, the movement signed John Manger & Co, London, the gilt-brass case finely engraved with foliate scrolls, the lid engraved with two birds, the rear with hinged compartment for the winder
