Sir Alfred J. Munnings, P.R.A. Mendham 1878-1959 London

We are grateful to Lorian Peralta-Ramos who has seen the present painting first hand and confirms it to be by Munnings and painted circa 1913.  This picture will be included in her forthcoming catalogue raisonné on the artist.

It has been suggested that the sitter depicted here is Joey Carter-Wood, the brother of the first Mrs. Munnings, Florence. Carter-Wood was an amateur painter who painted with the Newlyn group of artists under the direction of Stanhope Forbes about 1911.
