Catalogue Note

Lady Georgina sat for Lawrence on three different occassions.  The first, circa 1806-07, was for a portrait with her sister, Susan, later Baroness North (location unknown).  The second, circa 1812, was for a double portrait with her mother Susan, Countess of Guilford (J.B. Speed Art Museum, Louisville, Kentucky).  The last time Lady Georgina sat for Lawrence, in 1828, was for the present portrait.

Lady Georgina was the third daughter of the 3rd Earl of Gilford.  She died unmarried.
