Catalogue Note

These exquisite and rare window designs of birds soaring above an abstracted land or seascape suggest that Henry, who had little time to devote to the design of decorative arts in earlier years, was able in his later years to liberate his creative spirit.  The windows make excellent use of the dropped lead technique that the Greenes had developed with Emile Lange to give depth and veracity to the window designs.  The glass panels are tinted in pale shades of blue, with the grey lead silhouettes of the birds standing out sharply in relief.
