Catalogue Note

 

The flowing abstract decoration of these windows for the Tichenor house is somewhat surprising given the rigid symmetry of the leaded glass patterns for the lantern and wall sconces offered in the following lots.  The Tichenor commission, as large and as challenging as it was, gave the Greenes ample opportunity to freely experiment and explore a range of creative ideas.  These unique windows seem far ahead of their time for 1904.
