Catalogue Note

Like the desk, the chest offered here exhibits hallmarks of the Greenes’ developing style.  With ash again as the medium, the front of the case makes use of the gentle ''cloud lift'' in its pulls, above a slightly curved stretcher at the bottom.  The sides of the case, with their battens ever so slightly flared at the join with the curved side stretcher lines, demonstrate that Charles sought perfection in every small detail.
