Catalogue Note

This mahogany chair with wooden seat was produced around 1907 for Charles Sumner Greene’s wife, Alice.  The precursor was a desk chair with cushioned leather seat conceived by the Greenes and produced by the Hall workshops in 1906 for the Bolton-Bush house.  This beautifully proportioned chair, with its articulated, pierced back rest, ''cloud lift'' aprons and square ebony pegs is characteristic of the Greenes’ classic high period from about 1907 to 1911.
