Catalogue Note
'D. I. M.' is the monogram for the design firm of Décoration intérieure moderne established in Paris in 1919 and continuing through the 1930s to promote the Art Deco, or as they referred to it, 'the modern style'. Under the direction of René Joubert and Philippe Petit the studio created designs for interiors as well as for objects to be used therein, including carpets. Artists designing for D. I. M. during this period include Voldemar Bobermann, Eckmann and Moser, see: Sirat, Jacques and Siriex, Françoise, Tapis Français du XXe Siècle, Paris, 1993, p. 200.
