Catalogue Note

Amina Peerbhoy, called Sunita, was amongst Epstein's most famous models. The aritst first met Sunita and her sister Miriam Patel, whom he called Anita, at the Wembley International Exhibition.  Together with Sunita's son Enver, the sisters moved into the Epsteins' house and between 1925 and 1933, Epstein sculpted four portraits of Sunita, one of Enver and one of Anita as well as countless drawings.
