Catalogue Note

Bando Toshio studied under Fujishima Takeji and took part in the Tokyo Bunten/Teiten Salons from 1918-20. He left for France in 1922 where he frequented Foujita and took part in the Salons d'Automne, Indépendants and des Tuileries. By the art critics Bando was considered to be a modern day Chardin. He remained in France until his death and is buried in the Père Lachaise cemetary.
His works are in many private collections as well as Museums.
