Catalogue Note

Zhou was born in Shanghai and graduated from St. John's University,  Shanghai, in 1945.  She spent four years as a reporter before moving to Hong Kong in 1949.  She studied under Zhao Shao'ang and became a leading figure in the Hong Kong art scene, contributing to the New Ink Painting Movement of the 1960s, along with Lu Shoukun, Zheng Weiguo and Wucius Wong. Her work has been exhibited widely both in Hong Kong and abroad. She moved to Australia in 1991.
