Catalogue Note

A closely related drawing entitled Une Famille de Danseurs Nomades was illustrated in volume XVI of Tour de Monde in 1867, and republished in Baron Charles Davillier's L'Espagne of 1874, the year before Doré exhibited the present work at the Paris Salon.
