Catalogue Note

These frames and those shown in the following lot were designed in the style of Carlo Bugatti, who was best known for his highly original designs, inspired by Middle Eastern motifs, as well as Japanese decorative traditions and Romanesque architecture.  His frames and furniture incorporated fanciful decorations like those seen here and his innovative work was widely exhibited.
