Millar, 1856 [but 1756], first edition, 4to (280 x 230mm.), 17 engraved plates (many folding), modern antique-style panelled calf, spine gilt, modern endpapers, [Blackmer 1458 (second edition); Röhricht 1460], some light offsetting or stains, one plate trimmed to plate mark (not affecting image)

Catalogue Note

Russell was physician to the English factory in Aleppo for a period from 1740. This work was described by Lowndes as ''one of the most complete pictures of Eastern manners extant."
