Catalogue Note
The present work depicts a steam train crossing a wooden trellis trestle outside Bristol. It dates from the 1840's and was part of the series of wash drawings of the Great Western Railway which Bourne produced for the architect, printer and publisher, Charles Cheffins (1777-1844). Many of these watercolours were then engraved and printed in The History and Description of the Great Western Railway published by David Bogue in 1846
