Catalogue Note
Located in Kinross, Loch Leven Castle is one of the county's best known monuments. The castle consists of a fourteenth-century tower, as well as a smaller round tower in which Mary, Queen of Scots was imprisoned, and from which she escaped with the aid of the Governor's son. The original entrance was by movable ladder to a door on the second floor.
