Catalogue Note

The sitter was the son of Henry Prittie, 1st Baron Dunalley and his wife Catherine Bury, daughter of Francis Sadleir of Sopwell Hall. He was Whig M.P. for Carlow, 1797-1800, and for Okehampton, 1819-1824. The sitter married firstly Maria, daughter of Dominick Trant of Dunkettle. He married secondly Emily Maude, 18th child of Cornwallis, 1st Viscount Hawarden.
