Catalogue Note

These sketches may have been made during Bakst's visit to Greece with Valentin Serov during May 1907.  Together they visited Athens, Crete, Corinth, Delphi, Patras, Olympia and Corfu.  Similar drawings can be seen in one of Bakst's sketchbooks in the New York Public Library at the Lincoln Center.
