Catalogue Note

The Photo-Secession exhibition held at the Art Galleries of the Carnegie Institute in Pittsburgh was one of the most important shows of the day. Some 287 works were displayed, and attendance totaled 11,000. 'The beauty of the catalogue. . . surpassed that of any other exhibition of the time' (Homer, Stieglitz and the Photo Secession, p. 115).
