In a departure from his typically large scale, boldly executed portraits, Lenkiewicz also created the more intimate colour patterns of Lots 43, 44 and 45. These works were the result of 'an ongoing process in private studios' to explain his personal feelings in terms of colour 'in the hope that a pattern will emerge' (Ibid.p.104).
