Catalogue Note

Formerly ascribed to Cornelis Ketel. The globe is of Italian manufacture and early 17th century, close in style to those of the maker Mathaus Greuter. The map of the Mediterranean and North Africa is probably from Gerad Mercator's Atlas, first published in Amsterdam in the 1590s but in widespread circulation by the early seventeenth century.
