Catalogue Note

The present work is mentioned in the account book of Schweickhardt, which he wrote from 1773 until one year before his death, recording all the amounts he received for his works, together with a short description of the work and the name of the commissioner or buyer. In this book he notes that the present painting was bought in December 1786 by Mr. Commis Carter in London, together with another work representing a Winter landscape (see Literature below). Schweickhardt resided in London since that same year.
