Catalogue Note

This drawing would appear to record the head of a Roman statue, similar to the so-called Vitellius, of which Tintoretto made many drawings. That head, which is in fact now thought to represent an anonymous courtier of the time of Hadrian, was formerly in the Grimani collection and is now in the Museo Archeologico, Venice.
