Catalogue Note

This characteristic river view by de Verwer can be related to a group of eleven drawings in the British Musuem (inv.nos.1854.6.28.48-58), representing views of various towns in France, Flanders and the Northern Netherlands, and also to two others, very similar in style and format to the present drawing, in Edinburgh (National Galleries of Scotland, inv.nos. D.1112 and D.1670).
